If I had to hazard a guess about next year’s likely nominees, I would predict that Hillary Clinton will win her party’s nod, but even the typical caveats (“as things now stand” or “barring something unforeseen”) don’t make it possible for me to venture a prediction about the Republican nominee. At the moment, I would be surprised if it were any of the top contenders.
