The Corner

The 23rd President

Benjamin Harrison was a good egg. He married his second wife after leaving

office, when he was 62, and fathered a child. I have read somewhere that he

never worked after lunch–a most commendable practice. We could use a man

like this in the White House nowadays. He was also, of course, the last of

the Big Beards.
