The Corner

550 Neoconservatives

There were so 550 neocons in the 1980s. Take everybody who wrote for Commentary and the Public Interest, add to them the number of people who attended the yearly bashes of the Committee for the Free World, and you’re getting pretty close there. But in the interest of making peace, which has not (to put it mildly) been my role on the Corner this week, I’ll emend my remarks and say that I’d have $22.50 by now if I had a nickel for every neocon who thought Reagan was losing the Cold War.

John Podhoretz, a New York Post columnist for 25 years, is the editor of Commentary.
