66,000 Tennesseans to Be Notified Their Health Plans Are Ending

Sixty-six thousand Tenneseeans are about to be informed by their insurer, Blue Cross Blue Shield, that they’ll need to switch plans because of Obamacare’s minimum-coverage mandates. The remainder of the company’s 106,000 policies in the state were grandfathered in.

Roy Vaughn, a vice president at the company, said that the letters aren’t exactly cancellations; they’re meant to help consumers choose a replacement plan without having a lapse in coverage.

“Nobody is getting turned away,” he told the Tennessean. “No one is getting canceled.”

The news from Tennessee is just the latest in a wave of millions of Americans’ discovering that their policies do not meet Obamacare’s standards and will be discontinued.
