80-Year-Old President Is ‘Vibrant,’ Says 77-Year-Old Treasury Secretary

In an interview with Sky News, Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen was asked whether Joe Biden has the energy for another five years in office, should he win reelection next year. Yellen replied that Biden is “very involved, very vibrant.” Here’s the video:

She goes on to say, “I think when we face the kinds of troubles that we have in the Middle East, you can see the benefit of deep experience and understanding of global issues.” Not sure she should want to associate this administration too closely with what’s going on in the Middle East right now.

Joe Biden is 80. Janet Yellen is 77. Yellen should have concluded her term as Federal Reserve chairwoman and written a big book on monetary policy, as her predecessor Ben Bernanke did. Instead, she took a job with the Biden administration in which she has repeatedly embarrassed herself, making grotesque arguments for abortion before the Senate, attempting to rationalize Biden’s massive expansion of the IRS, and celebrating Biden’s economic policy while inflation was at 7.1 percent.

We can all see that Biden is not “vibrant.” But Yellen accepted a job, a decade beyond normal retirement age, that includes spinning the news on his behalf. So we get to watch our 77-year-old Treasury secretary talk about how energetic and lively our 80-year-old president is.
