9/11 For The Record

E-mail:

I hate to quibble, but not “everyone who wasn’t dead or injured” could return home after the towers fell. Thousands of people who lived in Battery Park City, the financial district and Tribeca couldn’t return home. I couldn’t return to my home for four months, saw many of my belongings destroyed and had my apartment robbed of what few remaining possessions I had because my front door had been bashed in by firefighters and National Guardsmen.

In the scope of what was lost on 9/11 and in the wake of Katrina my loss was small indeed. However, saying that it didn’t happen at all isn’t okay.
