Nate: Thanks for posting that Superbowl video. I haven’t figured out which team I’m going to root for–neither one is the Detroit Lions, which, alas, is my NFL team and a curse I must bear. Both teams have prominent former Michigan players on them and neither comes from the old NFC Central division, which are the sorts of factors I weigh when picking sides. I’m attracted to both the Giants’ Cinderella story and the Patriots’ cusp-of-greatness story.

But I gotta say, I loved this article, in today’s Washington Post, about the Giants’ honorary team captain, a badly wounded Iraq war vet, Lt. Col. Greg Gadson, U.S. Army, 2nd Batallion, 32nd Field Artillery. Wouldn’t it be great if he got to lift the Superbowl trophy on Sunday?

Go Giants!

What Will Trump Do?

R.I.P. Ruth Bader Ginsburg. As a matter of pure self-interested calculation, I would expect Donald Trump to try to get a new Supreme Court justice confirmed before the election. That will provide exactly the kind of galvanizing fight that he thrives on, and he has more to gain from giving Republicans something ... Read More
