I used to be a hard-liner on Pete Rose but came to realize that I was wrong, and he’s deserving of the Hall of Fame. His offenses were quite bad, but they didn’t affect the integrity of his play or the game’s records. What Barry Bonds and others did was much less forgivable. So, as usual on such questions, Dan McLaughlin is right.
