Andy McCarthy’s terrific column over the weekend raised a favorite complaint of mine about the abortion movement — their perversion of the English language to make the horrible seem quite sterile. I wrote about it (and the similar distortion of the law and medicine) back in 2004, in my first National Review column, which the editors have been kind enough to bring out from behind the firewall here. (Bonus points to those who notice my obvious mistake in describing the Carhart litigation — someday, I’ll have my own proofreader who can catch such abominable errors. I seem to find them only after we’ve gone to press).
