According to Congressional Quarterly, Nancy Pelosi made history twice in four years:
The California Democrat became the first woman to wield the gavel in 2007, touting the “marble ceiling” that she shattered for American women. But just four years later, Pelosi is poised to cede the job to Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) as part of a record-breaking Congressional power shift that some argue was a rebuke of her leadership.
Pelosi’s allies and critics alike say her legacy will be as much about the position that she held as the sweeping agenda that she pursued, for better or worse.
