Accessorizing Politics

Moving up the arm from the hand, yesterday parts of the Internet were abuzz about Sarah Palin wearing a bracelet with her son’s name. He’s alive, so she shouldn’t be wearing it, seems to be the argument. But bracelet wearing of this sort is the norm, isn’t it? This website has Army parents talking about bracelets in the names of their deployed children. I remember Lucianne Goldberg handing out Tony Snow “livestrong” bracelets while he was still fighting. I really don’t understand how this one is even worth a conversation — other than taking the opportunity to be grateful for those families who make sacrifices for the rest of us.

This site claims to have sent Palin the deployment bracelet. And it’s evidently copper, not black, which seems to be at the heart of the controversy.
