My column today is a typical mélange of Iran, Israel, Cuba, Hillary, language, sports, music, etc. Among the items is a quotation from Tom Cotton, the new senator from Arkansas, who gave an extraordinary tribute to Abraham Lincoln yesterday, a day marking the 150th anniversary of that president’s death.
A reader wrote me about a couple of items in my column, including the one about Lincoln. He says, “As a child (probably not far into double digits), I saw this [a cartoon that he attached] in a book of H. T. Webster cartoons in my parents’ bookcase. Liked it then and still do.”
Indeed, an unusual thing (to my eye). Webster, incidentally, was from Parkersburg, W.V., and lived from 1885 to 1952. The cartoon in question is below.
