Ad for Texas Democrats Calls Tea Partiers ‘Radical Terrorists’

Nothing subtle about this ad, which has been airing on the Spanish-language television networks Telemundo and Univision in San Antonio, Texas:

While the message is pretty clear, the Texas Federation of Hispanic Republicans provided a translation at its Facebook page:

These two flags represent friendship, liberty, opportunity and justice. This flag is very dangerous: It is the flag of Tea Party Republicans. They are radical terrorists who want to take issues into their own hands, harming our kids and families with violence and firearms on the border and in our cities. Tuesday, November 4th, is Election Day, and it is our only opportunity to make our voice count for our common good. Vote Democrat.

The ad was produced by the Bexar County Democratic Party, written by its chairman, Manuel Medina, and bankrolled by San Antonio personal-injury lawyer Thomas J. Henry, a prominent Democratic supporter.

Amid backlash, Medina has doubled down on the ad: “The Tea Party is not a political party,” he told the San Antonio Express-News. “They’re a terrorist organization.”
