Adjective Inflation

Open-borders libertarian Shikha Dalmia, in two posts this week (Ramesh responded to the first one here), calls me and NR “ultra-restrictionist,” because ordinary “restrictionist” apparently no longer suffices. In the spirit of comity, I offer her some prefix suggestions for future adjectival escalation: Super-restrictionist, extra-restrictionist, maxi-restrictionist, mega-restrictionist, meta-restrictionist (I’m not sure what that would mean, but it sounds good), hyper-restrictionist (though that implies a level of frenetic activity I don’t think I can live up to), and my favorite, uber-restrictionist. In fact, Google suggests that this post is the first-ever use of “uber-restrictionist” in the English language, my gift to Shikha and posterity.
