The Republican Party has managed to claw back most of the affiliation gap that Democrats opened during the latter years of the Bush administration, according to a new Gallup poll. After a peak split of 53/39 in 2008, Q1 of 2010 sees 46% of Americans identified as Democrats or leaned Democratic, while 45% identified as or leaned Republican.
Better yet, the six point rise in Republican affiliation is due entirely to a migration of independents to the right.
