AFSCME Recruits Romney’s Garbageman for Ad

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) has recruited Mitt Romney’s garbageman – yes, seriously – for a new ad.  According to AFSCME, Richard Hayes is a city of San Diego sanitation worker whose route includes Mitt Romney’s home in La Jolla, CA.

The ad opens this way: “My name is Richard Hayes, and I pick up Mitt Romney’s trash.  We’re kind of like the invisible people.  He doesn’t realize that the service we provide – if it wasn’t for us, it would be a big health issue, us not picking up trash.”

The whole ad is below.  Hat tip: Mediaite, which tells us to behold a new era of politics “where we can get any random person with a remote connection to a candidate to say negative things that conform to the latest narrative about that particular candidate.”

Oh – and yes – this ad is the first in a series.
