After President Denounces ‘Name-Calling,’ Paul Ryan Booed at Inaugural Celebration

The president may have called for a higher level of discourse in his remarks today, but it appears that some in the crowd didn’t get the message. As Congressman Paul Ryan appeared on the steps of the Capitol, the crowd booed. That was the result, it appears, of the antics of Department of Justice lawyer Dan Freeman, who broadcast the message below on Facebook shortly thereafter:

Asked over the weekend whether he’d be attending today’s Inauguration festivities, Ryan told USA Today, “Yes, it’s my obligation.”

According to his bio, a version of which can be found here, Freeman works in the Voting Section of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, one not particularly distinguished for its staunch opposition to intimidation tactics.
