Allen’s Town

George Allen may yet win the GOP nomination in 2008, but if he has one flaw I would say it’s an excess of caution. Has he been a stand-out leader on any issues in the Senate? McCain certainly has, for better or worse. Romney has taken a strong stance on marriage and (to a lesser extent) stem cells. But what about Allen? He’s in a comfortable position right now, which will further disincline him toward risk taking — yet he’s also a guy who could benefit from a Big Fight or a Big Idea.
