Almost Parody of Big Government

It’s not in by bailiwick, so maybe I’m missing something, but why is anyone even considering this cap-and-trade nonsense rather than a carbon tax? They’re both taxes, except that a carbon tax doesn’t give the government huge new powers over the means of production, and it can be completely offset by cutting or eliminating taxes on things we want more of – like work, savings, and investment. I’d kind of thought that Democrats (not to mention Republicans) had learned their lesson about the efficacy of markets, but I guess I was misinformed.
