My piece on the election and immigration.
And on the topic of polls, FAIR released a post-election survey, the most interesting finding of which to me was that people don’t think the president has done enough to enforce the immigration law. Specifically:
“President Obama has not been aggressive enough in enforcing immigration laws, failing to protect the interests of the American people” — 61 percent
“President Obama’s enforcement of immigration laws has been just right” — 27 percent
“President Obama has been overly aggressive in enforcing immigration laws, harming communities and separating families” — 4 percent
The “overly aggressive” sentiment has been the standard line of the pro-amnesty crowd, but it’s clear that no one outside Berkeley, Cambridge, and Ann Arbor believes that. (The poll was conducted by Kellyanne Conway’s firm.) More reason to expect that the new Congress is going to stick to an enforcement-first strategy of attrition.
