American Friends Service Committee on Iraq

The American Friends Service Committee, the Quaker activist group, long ago cast aside basic Quaker principles (it’s a topic which long grated on me after 14 years of Quaker schooling and so had done an op-ed on this here).  At any rate, Raed Jarrar, its Iraq consultant, has now done an interview with the state-controlled Iranian press in which he says:

…That is why they think that the millions of Iraqis who are killed are very reasonable cost for this war even if it costs the US this much that doesn’t really hurt them personally. Here is the point where you see how selfish and irresponsible this government is because these individuals who are ruling the US don’t care about the lives of Iraqis or Americans as much as they care about their personal interest…

So, the American Friends Service Committee’s key Iraq person claims that the U.S. presence in Iraq has killed “millions” and that the occupants of the White House, Congress, and Pentagon “don’t care about the lives of Iraqis or Americans.”  Flat out false, and truly disgusting.
