Amtrak Funding Slashed

One of the good things about the Appropriations Bill is that Amtrak only gets $495 million, which is about $100 million more than the President requested, but over $700 million less than last year. There are also some tough rules aimed at enforcing financial discipline on Amtrak. The much-needed privatization could happen in the next few years assuming a bit of courage from congressional leaders (a big assumption, I know…)
