An ‘Outmoded Level of Caution’ Indeed

Writing in The Atlantic, economist Emily Oster argues that “Universities Need to Catch Up to the Post-vaccine Reality.”

Despite mountains of evidence that college students are at a very low risk for any severe consequences of Covid and that the mandated rules have hardly any effect, many college officials keep insisting on the most draconian policies on campus if they even allow in-person instruction at all. Why?

Apparently, they perceive no downside to themselves or to their institutions from going all-in on hygiene socialism. Let’s hope that subsequent events will prove them wrong.
