‘And he shall purify the sons of Eli’ (yuk, yuk)

A few nights ago, I participated in a debate at Yale. And as I was leaving the hall, many of the students smiled at me, shook my hand, and thanked me for coming. Seems unremarkable, no? No. I had the feeling, not for the first time, that students have become much nicer and saner since I was in college. In those years, I don’t believe many students would have thanked a conservative speaker. Maybe now the kids are alright, to borrow an old lyric?
