Just had a middle-class American honors student do a one-on-one book review with me. She read a Lincoln biography cover to cover.
About halfway through our discussion, she says, “Yeah, like I knew he was important, but this book really brought it home. And I had like no idea that he was assassinated.”
Honors student her whole life. College educated.
I nearly wept.
