The Corner

And Ten Years Before That . . .

When Sarah Palin was nominated, a lot of us said, “Well, there it goes — you can’t knock Obama anymore for having a paucity of experience.” (This despite the fact that Obama is a presidential nominee, whereas Palin’s a veep nominee.) Similarly, wouldn’t you think that Obama couldn’t knock McCain for having been in Washington so long?

But a new ad does just that, essentially. You can read about it here. The ad says, “1982, John McCain goes to Washington.” Well, why mightn’t a Republican ad say, “1972, Joe Biden goes to Washington”?

Anyway . . .

Look, experience is a good thing — in concert with judgment, broadness, and a number of other qualities.
