And to Think, They Told Me My Ancestors Couldn’t Swim

An e-mail:

Ms. Lopez, I was in my home town of Ft. Smith, Arkansas for a week. I bought a Times Record newspaper. Then I came across the article you wrote on the 26th of July. I was amazed about the article titled, “Obama’s ‘Audacity’ Is For Dopes.” I was amazed when you said when he was in Germany and he did not have the courtesy to tip his hat to the former president of the United States, Ronald Reagan. Ms. Lopez I used to live in California for 25 years during the 60′s and 70′s. I managed a chain of restaurants. I remember the time when there were a lot of Mexicans and Latinos that swam across the river and who sneaked across the borders. Ronald Reagan was the governor of California at that time. I didn’t see any of you guys saluting Ronald Reagan when you came across our borders. Don’t get me wrong, I am not an Obama fan, I am a Hillary Clinton fan. I was born in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. You came to our land and got an education. Now you want to throw darts at people. Shame on you. If you can’t say anything nice about people or write anything nice, don’t say anything.
