Thanks to President Obama, white Americans now understand what it’s like to be black, says Andrea Mitchell.

NBC’s chief foreign-affairs correspondent praised last Friday’s remarks by the president, where he discussed his experiences with race and how to relate to the nation as a whole. In his impromptu remarks, Obama showed himself to be “the moral leader of this country,” Mitchell said on Morning Joe earlier today.

“He, first of all, taught white people in America — those who were unaware — what it is like to be a black male,” she said. This was a lesson that was badly needed, according to Mitchell, claiming that at least one juror thought Trayvon Martin “didn’t have flesh and blood.”
