Around the 19th anniversary of Clarence Thomas’s confirmation hearing earlier this month, Mrs. Thomas called Anita Hill asking for an apology.
The news of this is a gift to those who want to rewrite history. But it’s worth recalling that we all listened to Hill, listened to Thomas, and listened to character witnesses — including women who worked with Thomas. And after doing so, a New York Times/CBS News poll showed only 24 percent of respondents finding her story credible. 58 percent believed Clarence Thomas.
That 24 percent appears to be in the MSNBC green room today.
They’re also running in tight reelection fights in Washington and California.
