Anthony Weiner’s Campaign Responds to Latest Allegations of Sexual Impropriety

Anthony Weiner’s campaign has responded to The Dirty’s allegations in a statement, Politicker reports, confirming some of the exchanges are genuine. However, the statement does not comment on the timing of the sexually explicit exchanges, which is singificant; The Dirty’s source says the exchanges occurred at least until August 2012, over a year after Weiner resigned from office for similar behavior.

“While some things that have been posted today are true and some are not, there is no question that what I did was wrong. This behavior is behind me,” Weiner said.

In the statement, Weiner said that he predicted other texts and photos were “likely to come out, and today they have.” The Democratic candidate for New York City mayor also reiterated that his actions in the past were wrong and “hurtful” to his wife.

Weiner allegedly corresponded with the source via Facebook, Formspring, phone, and at the Yahoo email alias “Carlos Danger.”
