Anywhere but Here

Instead of giving formerly American companies a better tax rate or some other reason to come home, the Obama administration has attempted to attract bees with vinegar. They have ramped up the rhetoric against companies that incorporate in tax-shelter nations like Bermuda.

Accenture now responds by moving its incorporation from Bermuda to . . . no, not here, but Ireland.

The move, which is not expected to save the company from Obama’s proposed tax hike on multi-national businesses, will cost Accenture some very small amount of money in the short run. In the long run, it saves them some future presidential scoldings — not one of which will create or even “save” a single job in America.
