AP: WH Withholding Enrollment Numbers From Public

Associated Press White House correspondent Julie Pace said the Obama administration is being “selectively transparent” in providing statistics relating to the rollout of Obamacare in order to manage the public perception of the law.

“Part of what’s been so frustrating about this as a reporter is that we know that they have these numbers,” Pace said Monday. “It’s not as though they have to wait for some tech person off in some far-off place to send them the data — they’re getting these numbers in.”

The White House has provided some information since the online exchanges launch last week, such as unique visitors to the exchanges, which they say has topped 19 million, but has repeatedly declined to release the total enrollment numbers. White House press secretary Jay Carney has told reporters the administration will release those numbers on a monthly basis.
