(Arab) Man Bites (Iranian/Syrian) Dog

Late, as usual, but here’s a call (in a widely read Arab newspaper based in London) for the Arabs to save Lebanon from the Syrians and Iranians. Imagine! It’s cogent, serious, and even news.  It makes one of my favorite points:  if we do nothing, we’re gonna get the Americans and Europeans in our neighborhood again.  And anything, even acting responsibly, is better than that.  I have always thought that Sadat went to Jerusalem because he saw to his horror that if he didn’t, Carter/Vance and the Soviets were going to meddle.  So maybe there is some hope here.  Unlikely, I know, but life is full of surprises, isn’t it?
