From Click2Houston:
A woman opened fire on a group of robbers at a local Denny’s restaurant.
At around 4 a.m. Thursday, a man who does not want to be identified, said his brother was robbed by six men with guns at a Denny’s off the Gulf Freeway in southeast Houston.
“I don’t know if it was random or someone set him up. Because he got his own label,” said the victim’s brother.
It takes a brave woman even to think about taking on six men with guns. And the woman, who declined to be named, appears to be just that brave.
“She said she came out of the restroom and saw my brother on the floor. That’s when she started doing what she gotta do. She got a license and she’ll do anything to protect her kids and my brother,” he said.
Sure she will. But if she didn’t have a license, as the anti-CCW crowd would prefer, she would have been able to do precisely nothing to “protect her kids and . . . brother” against people who would have brought their guns anyway, and consequently her brother would likely have remained on the floor and his assailants would likely not have scattered and run away. And herein lies the point that needs hammering home every time that someone defends themself with a weapon: Had she walked out of the bathroom unarmed, she would have been totally unarmed and the two of them would have been at the mercy of six men with guns. Had she walked out of the bathroom with a weapon in a place with no concealed-carry regime, she would have been a felon — which, for most law-abiding types, means she would have gone in unarmed. It is exactly women like this for whom proponents of the right to bear arms must stand up.
The suspects returned fire before fleeing the scene in a white minivan. The customer ran outside and fired at the suspects’ van, but they got away.
No one was injured.
Police said a white minivan with what appeared to be bullet holes was later recovered in the 1400 block of Griffin
