The Corner

Hundreds of illegal aliens are suing that recently raided New Bedford, Massachusetts factory for overtime pay they claim they were illegally denied.  This latest lawsuit is in addition to one filed by the arrested illegals against the federal government for shipping them to Texas and allegedly denying them adequate access to lawyers.  One of the (many) contentious issues in the current negotiations over a Senate immigration reform bill is the prospect of extensive litigation that could delay an alien’s stay indefinitely.  The 1986 immigration reform was the subject of multiple suits, some not yet resolved.  As some GOP Senators are rightfully arguing, without limits on administrative and judicial reviews the proposed reform, far more sweeping than that of 20 years ago, will be completely unworkable.
