Awkward Moments in Charlotte

Many of last night’s speakers appeared to lack self-awareness.  There was the lavish praise for President Obama’s extraordinary ability to make decisions without respect to the political fallout.  There was Obama’s criticism that his opponents are “new” to foreign policy, that Mitt Romney is such a novice he can’t even travel abroad without offending our closest ally.

But it was John Kerry who really left me feeling awkward when he attacked Governor Romney for being, er, inconsistent in his positions: “Mr. Romney, here’s a little advice.  Before you debate Barack Obama on foreign policy, you better finish the debate with yourself.”
