Chris Christie’s press conference went about as well as it could go, according to former Obama White House and campaign adviser David Axelrod.

Earlier on Thursday, the New Jersey governor gave a near-two-hour press conference to apologize for members of his staff’s decision to close lanes on the George Washington Bridge, and announced he had fired those involved. Even though he was unaware of the decision to close the lanes, Christie took responsibility for it taking place under his watch and vowed to continue investigating the situation.
