Bachmann Makes Her Mark

Columbia, S.C. – Rep. Michele Bachmann (R., Minn.) just finished her opening statement. She emphasized her “constitutional conservative” credentials and quoted Calvin Coolidge and Franklin Roosevelt as she compared two “divergent” views on the Constitution. She pledged to battle those who believe that the document is a “marvelously elastic compilation.” She would also ask any political appointee this question: “What do you see as your role under the Constitution?”

Robert Costa was formerly the Washington editor for National Review.
