From an American patriot who works on the Hill earlier today:
on this day in which we remember what we are fighting for – the President needs to use his last 18 months to do what he is doing right now at a speech to West Virginia Air National Guard. .. explaining why we MUST win this war. On this, the most important question of our day, he is right. And his missteps on immigration, NCLB, McCain-Feingold, Med Part D, not pushing through on Social Security in 2005, etc… have drained energy from the one thing he/we must get right…
….in a post 9/11 world we should have clarity of purpose… as conservatives our mission should be simple – win the war. Win the war above all else, build up our military, support our soldiers and spend every waking moment explaining why we must. While doing that, we need to appoint good judges and we should fight increases in government ( i.e. keep taxes low, fight big government programs, etc…).
That’s it. War, Judges, Limited Government. Done.
I still believe that and believe we as conservatives can get momentum in 2008 if we will do that. More, I know those things are right, so it doesn’t matter if they are politically popular – but I think they are.
