Barack Obama’s presidency has been disappointing to a number of people — not least Barbara Walters. Promoting her annual “Top Ten Most Fascinating People of the Year” list, Walters explained why she omitted the president this year.
“He made so many promises, we thought he was going to be — I shouldn’t say this at Christmastime — the next Messiah,” she said on CNN. Because the president’s health-care law “just hasn’t worked for him and he’s stumbled around on it,” along with his failure to meet other expectations, public confidence is ebbing, Walters said.
Walters said she’d once thought more highly of President Obama, deeming him the Most Fascinating Person of the Year on her 2008 list; Michelle Obama was named the Most Fascinating in 2009.
