Barbra Streisand Says Trump Is Making Her Fat

Barbra Streisand, in an interview with Maggie Haberman of the New York Times, said (before the mass shooting in Pittsburgh), “I’m just so saddened by this thing happening to our country. It’s making me fat. I hear what [President Trump] said now, and I have to go eat pancakes now, and pancakes are very fattening. We make them with healthy flour, though — almond flour, coconut flour.” Streisand avers that she’ll feel a bit better if the Democrats retake the House in midterms. And if not? “Don’t know. I’ve been thinking about, do I want to move to Canada? I don’t know.” (Streisand threatened to move to Canada in 2016 but has not done so, joining many other U.S. celebrities who also stayed here after making noises about leaving the country.)

Last year, you’ll recall, Lena Dunham blamed Trump for making her thin. The 5’3″ actress dropped to 138 pounds. “Donald Trump became president and I stopped being able to eat food,” she said at the time. “Everyone’s been asking like, ‘What have you been doing?’ And I’m like, ‘Try soul-crushing pain and devastation and hopelessness and you, too, will lose weight.'” Elle magazine opined that this “isn’t a healthy look, since your body is shutting down.” Dunham has since reverted to her more usual weight of 162 pounds and pronounced herself full of joy to feel rolls of fat between her shoulder blades.
