Congrats to long-suffering Washingtonians. Growing up there, I would get caught up in the occasional baseball-is-about-to-arrive frenzies. I remember one year (if I’m not mistaken) the baseball cards for the Padres said Washington on them because their move was considered such a certainty during the off-season. Now I have to say, however, that nothing strikes me as quite so dreary as the prospect of watching a National League game played at RFK stadium. Anyway, here’s hoping the nation’s capital has better luck with this franchise than the first two.
