‘Be the Guardians at the Gate’

Lancaster, Pa. — Gov. Chris Christie (R., N.J.) was in central Pennsylvania this morning, stumping for Tom Corbett, the Republican gubernatorial nominee, who’s leading Democrat Dan Onorato in the polls. As Christie took the stage, he laughed as someone yelled “2016!”

“We must be the guardians at the gate for our democracy,” Christie told the crowd huddled on the tarmac at Lancaster airport. “We must be the guardians at the gate for our principles.”

“Close the deal,” Christie urged, as a throng of GOP activists cheered. “You have to be, as you so often have been, the foot soldiers for what needs to happen on Tuesday night.”

Christie was joined at the rally by Pat Toomey, the GOP nominee for U.S. Senate, Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R., Minn.), and Gov. Haley Barbour (R., Miss.), the chairman of the Republican Governors Association.
