While most Democrats have been quietly avoiding answering whether they would publicly campaign with President Obama, Alaska’s Mark Begich is forcefully rejecting the idea. “I don’t need him campaigning for me — I need him to change some of his policies,” the Alaska senator told CNN following the State of the Union address.

Begich pointed out that he won Alaska in 2008, the same year President Obama lost it by 22 percentage points. While he said he would be willing to give the president a tour of Alaska to show him how his policies have hurt the state, Begich wasn’t interested in doing much more with him. “If he wants to come up there and learn about Alaska, bring it on — I’ll drag him around, I’ll show him whatever he wants to see.”

“I’m not really interested in campaigning,” Begich said.
