Durham, N.H. — Due to a nasty snowstorm, Bernie Sanders was really late to his pre-election rally at the University of New Hampshire in Durham on Monday night.
But it was ok, because the Sanders campaign had assembled some of the finest alternative rockers in the business to entertain a mass of college students out to support the Vermont senator. And when the candidate didn’t show up, they improvised.
Things started off normally enough, with rock band Young the Giant donning their finest sequined jackets to serenade the crowd:

By then they were several songs in, and Sanders was still a no-show. So Sharpe waded into the crowd again, invited the students to link arms and sit around him Indian-style, and led the youths in a song first recorded in 1972:

But even after all that leaning, Bernie was STILL late. So Sharpe and his Zeroes broke out a song they’d written especially for Monday night’s rally, tentatively titled “Feel the Bern”:

Finally, the man himself arrived. Sanders took the podium to adoring screams from the crowd, railing as usual against billionaires attempting to buy American democracy. “I hope by the end of tomorrow night, the people of New Hampshire will have told the country that we are no longer accepting establishment politics or establishment economics!” he finished hoarsely.
Cue a “Feel the Bern” encore, this time with Sanders and family nodding along appreciatively from the podium:

And thus concluded the millennial generation’s very own Woodstock. It’s not clear that the students in attendance will actually go out and vote on Tuesday — several tell National Review they won’t have time or aren’t registered — but a great time was had by all.
