Shame, Indeed

In a conversation with Bret Stephens, Gail Collins offers this possible rationale for voting for Senator Bernie Sanders: “Bernie Sanders would not bring shame on the White House. He’d never defame a religious or ethnic group.”

It is interesting what one can fail to see if one is sufficiently intent on failing to see it. I cannot think of any senator who has publicly shown himself more intent on defaming a religious group than Senator Sanders has — going so far as to suggest that members of that religious group are by definition unfit for public office.

One of the interesting thing about bigots is that they do not think they are bigots.
