Beto’s riff last night might be a clue. I’m obviously not a fan of the maximalist defenses of Trump by the likes of Jerry Falwell, Jr., but there’s a reason that the average conservative evangelical considers Trump, with all his flaws, a bulwark against an inflamed progressive movement and Democratic party that actively threaten his rights.
