The Times does an Ayers story.
Update: Sorry, I think my sarcasm was too understated. I generally agree with this, from a reader:
Jonah, yes, the Gray Lady has acknowledged that Bill Ayers exists. But the article seems more of an apologia than anything else. The synopsis on the Times’ homepage for the story is:
A review of records suggests that Barack Obama and Bill Ayers, a founder of the Weathermen, were not close.
The synopsis is accurate, if perhaps not true (shades of Dan Rather): the article goes to great length to show how distant Ayers and Obama are.
And this from the article is but one example of downplaying the true nature of these home-grown terrorists:
Most of the bombs the Weathermen were blamed for had been placed to do only property damage, a fact Mr. Ayers emphasizes in his memoir.
Aren’t we all just so glad it was only”most of the bombs?” All of this for the MSM is in the category, “the more things change, the more they stay the same.”
It’s way past time for some truth-telling by the McCain campaign, because the MSM sure isn’t about to commit truth to paper: it’s Obama’s associations (Wright; Rezko; Ayers) and judgment that are important. And why it would be a grave error to elect him as president.
Me: Yes, I’m sure that if John McCain had a similar relationship with a former abortion clinic bomber (“most of our bombs were aimed at property!”) the Times coverage would be identical.

Judging by the number of front page stories, the Times still thinks that Obamas ties to a terrorist bomber are only 1/3 as important as Bristol Palin’s pregnancy.
