Can this cockamamie business reassigning Michael Brown away from his agency’s primary responsibility actually hold? If he was reassigned because he can’t handle it, then it makes no sense not to fire him. If he was reassigned because he’s become a political liability, then having hin remain as head of FEMA won’t resolve the problem. I guess there’s no question Bush and Chertoff feel Brown’s gotten a raw deal and don’t want to throw him over the side. Either that, or they don’t want him out there giving angry post-firing interviews. Unless it’s one or the other, today’s move just doesn’t make sense.
