Earlier today, presumably aimed at McCain-Palin, he asked: “Why don’t you support stem cell research?”
He does, of course, realize they do? And that McCain supports more of it than I want him to?
In full, he said: “I hear all this talk about how the Republicans are going to work in dealing with parents who have both the joy, because there’s joy to it as well, the joy and the difficulty of raising a child who has a developmental disability, who were born with a birth defect. Well guess what folks? If you care about it, why don’t you support stem cell research?”
The idea that anyone who doesn’t support embryonic-stem-cell research (I assume that’s what he meant to say) doesn’t care about kids with special needs is, of course, offensive and ignorant. Senator Life Begins at Conception should be well aware of both the realities of medical research and the ethical concerns.
